This porcelain plate is to commemorate Georg Carstensen considered the founder of Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is a limited edition and is #812. The plate was designed by Richardt Branderup, a Danish artist of considerable renown. The plate carries the dates of Carstensen's birth (1812) and the second date is the year the plate was made (1987). The plate is just shy of 8 inches in diameter and has 2 factory drilled holes in the back for threading a hanging cord. The plate is navy blue on white and in perfect condition.

Georg Carstensen, developer of Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, Denmark, was more an idea man than a practical man and his removal from the company probably saved the Gardens from bankruptcy. Georg actually abandoned the project to go to war and when he returned tried to start a rival project which didn't make it. Tivoli is thriving to this day and a popular tourist destination in Denmark.

Carstensen, who died in 1857, was a friend of Hans Christian Anderson.
