FAQ & Site Info
AboutFirst I dreamed about far away places, studying National Geographic and reading about countries I could barely find on the school globe. Then I took my first trip. It changed the direction of my life forever. Travel changes one's outlook and the broader your outlook the more impossible it becomes to live in a box or see the world through a tunnel. There are no U-turns in a well-traveled life.
I was a great collector of souvenirs, some bought and paid for in souvenir shops, some freebies or found oddities like my collection of toilet paper samples, some discovered in antique shops and flea markets.
The souvenirs offered here, for the most part, are not from my collection but they are pieces I've picked up just because I like souvenirs and can't resist. Some are useful, like mugs, but most are just meant to stir your memories and hopefully broaden your horizons.
Souvenirs--the kind I'm offering, add a bit of frivolity if not downright tackiness to your decor. Maybe it is a place you visited long ago but have lost, or never bought, a souvenir of. Maybe it is a place you dream of visiting some day. Maybe it is a place your grandparents talked about.
The world has changed drastically since I started traveling. Some countries have ceased to exist, others have been renamed, sub-divided or reunited. Some are too dangerous to visit. Others so expensive they are almost restricted to the very rich. My first travel guide was Europe on $5 a day. It needs to be retitled, How to Find a $5 Coffee.
So here are some souvenirs that don't even require a gallon of gas to obtain.
